Grade 60 Rebar, ASTM A615: Yield Strength and Properties
Grade 60 Rebar, ASTM A615 has a specified minimum yield strength of 420 megapascals. The numbers below are the ones design and site work reach for.
Minimum yield strength: 420 MPa
| Minimum yield strength | 420 MPa |
| Minimum tensile strength | 620 MPa |
| Elongation | at least 9 percent, size dependent |
| Density | 7,850 kg per cubic meter |
| Elastic modulus | 200 to 210 GPa |
| Typical use | the standard US reinforcing bar |
Notes for design and site
Grade 60 means 60 ksi, and it is the assumed strength behind most US concrete design tables. A615 bars are strength only with no weldability guarantee: welded details call for A706, which controls chemistry and gives dependable ductility. Metric drawings write it as 420 MPa, the same bar.
