Fe550 Rebar: Yield Strength and Properties
Fe550 Rebar has a specified minimum yield strength of 550 megapascals. The numbers below are the ones design and site work reach for.
Minimum yield strength: 550 MPa
| Minimum yield strength | 550 MPa |
| Minimum tensile strength | 585 MPa |
| Elongation | at least 10 percent, higher for the D grade |
| Density | 7,850 kg per cubic meter |
| Elastic modulus | 200 to 210 GPa |
| Typical use | heavily loaded members where congestion governs |
Notes for design and site
Fe550 exists for crowded cages: where column steel ratios hit their limits, stronger bars mean fewer of them and concrete that can actually be placed. The price is ductility at the bottom of the acceptable range, so seismic applications should specify the D grade and designers should check crack widths, not just strength.
