Fe500 Rebar: Yield Strength and Properties
Fe500 Rebar has a specified minimum yield strength of 500 megapascals. The numbers below are the ones design and site work reach for.
Minimum yield strength: 500 MPa
| Minimum yield strength | 500 MPa |
| Minimum tensile strength | 545 MPa |
| Elongation | at least 12 percent |
| Density | 7,850 kg per cubic meter |
| Elastic modulus | 200 to 210 GPa |
| Typical use | the standard rebar of current reinforced concrete practice |
Notes for design and site
The jump from 415 to 500 megapascals trims steel tonnage by roughly a sixth for the same force, which is why Fe500 dominates modern bar schedules. The ductile D variant, Fe500D, buys back elongation for seismic zones. Check bend test requirements: higher strength arrives with less patience for tight pins.
