Concrete Grade M30: Strength, Mix Ratio, and Uses
M30 concrete reaches a characteristic cube strength of 30 newtons per square millimeter at 28 days. Here is what goes into it and where it belongs.
Characteristic strength: 30 N/mm² cube at 28 days
| Grade designation | M30 |
| Characteristic cube strength | 30 N/mm² |
| Approximate cylinder strength | 24 N/mm² |
| Mix | design mix only |
| Typical cement content | commonly 340 to 400 kg per cubic meter, by design |
| Typical uses | moderate to severe exposure, pavements, precast units |
Notes for design and site
From M30 upward the mix is engineered: water cement ratio, admixtures, and aggregate grading are chosen to hit strength and durability together. M30 is a common floor for severe exposure classes, where the driver is not strength but keeping chlorides and carbonation away from the steel.
