Concrete Grade M25: Strength, Mix Ratio, and Uses
M25 concrete reaches a characteristic cube strength of 25 newtons per square millimeter at 28 days. Here is what goes into it and where it belongs.
Characteristic strength: 25 N/mm² cube at 28 days
| Grade designation | M25 |
| Characteristic cube strength | 25 N/mm² |
| Approximate cylinder strength | 20 N/mm² |
| Mix | 1:1:2 nominal, or designed |
| Typical cement content | about 550 kg nominal, less if designed |
| Typical uses | structural columns, footings, water tanks in moderate exposure |
Notes for design and site
M25 marks the practical top of nominal mixing, and the cement rich 1:1:2 ratio is exactly why design mixes take over here: a designed M25 reaches the same strength with far less cement, less heat, and less shrinkage. For anything repeated or large, insist on a mix design.
