Concrete Grade M10: Strength, Mix Ratio, and Uses
M10 concrete reaches a characteristic cube strength of 10 newtons per square millimeter at 28 days. Here is what goes into it and where it belongs.
Characteristic strength: 10 N/mm² cube at 28 days
| Grade designation | M10 |
| Characteristic cube strength | 10 N/mm² |
| Approximate cylinder strength | 8 N/mm² |
| Mix | 1:3:6 nominal |
| Typical cement content | about 220 kg, 4.4 bags per cubic meter |
| Typical uses | blinding, leveling courses, mass fill |
Notes for design and site
M10 is lean concrete: it exists to give footings a clean, level, uniform surface to be cast against and to fill volume cheaply. It is not for reinforced work. Site batching by volume is acceptable at this grade, and a 75 millimeter blinding layer under foundations is its most common home.
