30M Rebar
Heavy civil: caissons, transfer elements and bridge work. 30M is where reinforcing stops being something a crew handles casually.
29.9 mm diameter, 700 mm2, 5.495 kg per meter
| Nominal diameter | 29.9 mm |
| Cross section area | 700 mm2 |
| Mass per meter | 5.495 kg |
| Standard grade | 400W, 400 MPa yield |
| 6 m stock bar | about 33 kg |
| Bars per tonne, 6 m lengths | about 30 |
| Nearest US bar | #9 |
Notes for design and site
A single 30M carries the area of seven 10M bars, which is the whole point: in caisson cages, deep transfer beams and bridge decks it keeps counts and congestion manageable where smaller bars could not physically fit. Above it, 35M and larger exist but live almost entirely in heavy infrastructure.
Rough lap at 40 diameters is about 1.2 m per splice, so on long verticals the laps alone add real tonnage, and couplers or welded splices often win on cost. The W in 400W means the steel is weldable with a qualified procedure. A 6 m bar weighs 33 kg: this is rigging and two person handling, planned rather than improvised.
